DAY 1 -  PROGAM.

THEME:

"SPEED TAG"

Day 1 Theme: Speed Tag

Day 1 focuses on Speed Tag. This is the foundation of rugby with an emphasis on movement, evasion, and core rugby fundamentals. The day will begin with a cultural introduction, bringing the group together as one and establishing a sense of unity and respect. This introduction includes a connection activity inspired by my cultural background in New Zealand, helping the participants understand the importance of identity, teamwork, and shared values within rugby.

Following the introduction, the session will transition into body movement and coordination activities, delivered through fun, engaging games. Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of evasion, including footwork, body positioning, and running with the ball in hand.

A strong emphasis will be placed on helping players understand why skills are performed in certain ways, encouraging good habits and decision-making from an early stage. The morning session will also include decision-making games, capture-style games, and tag-based activities. These games allow players to develop their ability to escape defenders, evade effectively, and score, all within an enjoyable and age-appropriate environment. These skills form the core foundation of rugby performance and are transferable across all formats of the game.

In the afternoon session, the focus will shift towards catching and passing skills, with particular attention on:

  • Drawing and fixing a defender

  • Timing and accuracy of the pass

  • The importance of support play

These skills will be introduced through small-sided and modified game scenarios, allowing players to apply their learning in realistic match situations. Participants will learn how to create space, support the ball carrier effectively, and make correct decisions under pressure. Building on this, the final attacking outcome will focus on scoring, reinforcing how all previous skills link together in a game context.

The day will conclude with a structured Speed Tag tournament, organised into evenly balanced teams. The purpose of the tournament is to provide a competitive yet enjoyable environment, where players can confidently apply the skills and principles learned throughout the day. This format encourages engagement, teamwork, and enjoyment, while allowing coaches to observe player development in a match setting.

Day 2 - PROGRAM.

THEME:

"MICRO RUGBY"

Day 2 Theme: Micro Rugby

Day 2 focuses on Micro Rugby, with an emphasis on developing confidence and competence in the contact area, and more importantly, learning how to use the body effectively and safely in contact situations.

Many young players naturally shy away from contact due to uncertainty and lack of understanding. The objective of this day is to bridge that gap by providing players with clear, age-appropriate learning tools that build confidence, understanding, and physical awareness.

A key component of the session will be tackle safety, particularly around correct technique and safe head placement. Players will be taught how to enter contact situations safely, protecting both themselves and their teammates, while developing good habits that align with modern rugby safety standards. The programme will also focus on developing effective body mechanics in contact. This includes understanding how to generate power through both the lower and upper body, and how this power directly relates to balance, stability, and effectiveness in contact situations.

Players will also learn how to maintain strong body positions, control their centre of gravity, and apply force safely and efficiently. An important principle reinforced throughout the day is that rugby is a game for all body shapes, sizes, and abilities. Players will be encouraged to become comfortable with their own body type and learn how to use their weight and physical attributes to their advantage. The aim is to foster self-belief, inclusivity, and an appreciation for the diverse physical demands of the game.

The day will conclude with a mini Micro Rugby tournament, providing players with an opportunity to apply their learning in a controlled and enjoyable game environment. This allows coaches to observe skill transfer, confidence in contact, and decision-making under match conditions.

Both days have been carefully planned and structured using a progression-based development model, where skills, understanding, and behaviours are deliberately layered and reinforced. This approach ensures that learning is meaningful, confidence is built progressively, and players are supported in maximising their growth — both as rugby players and as individuals.

7s PROGRAM.

THEME:

"GAME OF 7s"

Sevens Rugby Theme: Elite

This fun, high-energy Sevens camp is designed to give players a genuine insight into what it takes to become a professional 7s athlete. Led by myself a former New Zealand 7s player, the programme combines elite standards with an engaging, player-focused learning environment.

Athletes will progress through multiple learning stages, including speed, agility, acceleration, and hand-eye reaction skills, while learning how to perform all types of skills under pressure and fatigue.

Players will be introduced to key Sevens attacking concepts such as switch passes, overs and unders lines, bounce passes, two-man strike plays, and general 7s attack and defensive patterns. The camp also covers how to structure effective training sessions, prepare players for competition, and develop strong contact skills in the tackle and breakdown.

The trainings are driven by game-based drills that challenge decision-making, execution under fatigue, leadership, and mental resilience,  these things that are so crucial to the game 7s and definitely the best way to learn the game. The sessions will be intense, competitive, and a lot of fun, finishing with full Sevens games on Day 2. “The best way to learn Sevens is by playing the game itself'

Welcome to a one-of-a-kind, specialised training experience.
